The Open Doors Scholarship 2026 in Russia Fully Funded is now open for international students and researchers. This Olympiad-based scholarship program was updated today and provides an opportunity to win tuition-free enrollment or research employment in Russia at leading universities.
Administered by the Open Doors International Olympiad organizers and the Association of Global Universities, the program awards winners the chance to study in master's or postgraduate programs or take on a researcher role on the postdoctoral track. Participants can compete in either Russian or English across 14 available subject areas.
About Open Doors Russia Scholarship
The Open Doors Scholarship is the largest fully funded scholarship program in Russia for international students. It is not a traditional scholarship application, it is an Olympiad competition where you compete online and winners receive full government scholarship. Over 800 top Russian universities participate including Moscow State University, St. Petersburg State University, Novosibirsk State University, and others in Moscow, St Petersburg, Kazan, Vladivostok, Kaliningrad.
This scholarship was posted today September 14, 2026 and is open for 2026-2027 academic year. It covers all levels: Master, Doctoral, and Postdoctoral research.
Scholarship Benefits

Eligibility Criteria
Degree requirements for each track:
- Master's Track: Must have a bachelor's or specialist's degree or be completing it in 2025-2026. Final year undergraduates can apply.
- Doctoral Track: Need a specialist's or master's degree or to complete it in 2025-2026.
- Postdoctoral Track: Must have a PhD or Candidate/Doctor of Science degree by the registration start day September 16, 2026.
- Open to all nationalities, no age limit, no entrance examinations required.
- Selection based on portfolio competition, online tests, and interviews.
Selection Process
Both master's and doctoral tracks include two online rounds: a portfolio competition followed by proctored online tests. The portfolio may include academic transcripts, research work, letters of recommendation, certificates from competitions and Olympiads. The doctoral track additionally includes online interviews with up to three potential research supervisors.
The postdoctoral track includes three rounds: a portfolio competition, uploading a video presentation for each chosen research project, and interviews with research project leaders who confirm interest after viewing the presentation.

- Carefully review the scholarship details for your subject area.
- Complete the application form and ensure all required information is accurately filled out.
- Attach necessary documents: motivational letter, degree certificates, academic transcripts, language proficiency certificate optional to strengthen application.
- Submit portfolio and appear for online tests.
