NSFAS Double Payment October 2026 - New Dates For Students
Breaking: NSFAS has issued Circular Notice No 11 confirming new allowance dates for second semester 2026 after student protests.
NSFAS clarified confusion from Circular No 10. Students expected two payments in September, but NSFAS now says only ONE payment will be processed in September. The missing July 2026 allowance will be paid as a double payment in October.
New NSFAS Payment Dates For Second Semester 2026
- 25 September 2026: Normal single allowance
- 25 October 2026: DOUBLE PAYMENT - October allowance + July catch-up
- 25 November 2026: Final payment for 2026 academic year
NSFAS confirmed students registered for second-semester programmes qualify for 5 months of allowances in 2026.
Why The Delay?
On 2 September 2026, students at South Cape TVET College George Campus protested at Hibernia Street entrance, blocking road with tyres over delayed allowances. Some said they received half or no allowance for second semester. Police intervened and NSFAS released Circular 11 on 8 September to fix the schedule.
How To Make Sure You Get Paid
- Your institution must submit your 2026 registration to NSFAS
- Your myNSFAS status must show "Fully Funded"
- Update banking details on myNSFAS portal
- NSFAS pays institutions by 7th of each month, then students within 5 business days
