Shoprite Group is Africa's largest supermarket retailer. This YES (Youth Employment Service) Learnership is Retail Readiness for unemployed youth to become Cashier, Shelf Packer, Deli Assistant, Bakery Assistant, Store Assistant. Training at Shoprite, Checkers, Checkers Hyper, Usave stores nationwide - all 9 provinces.
Duration of the Learnership
Duration: 12 Months YES Learnership - 7 Weeks Training + 10 Months Work. Starts 12 January 2027. First 7 weeks intensive classroom at Shoprite Training Centre in Centurion, Brackenfell, Durban, Johannesburg. Then 10 months practical in-store work experience 06:00-15:00 or 13:00-21:00 shifts, 6 days a week including weekends and public holidays. Must be willing to work retail hours.
Salary Stipend
Monthly Stipend: R4,500 per month + store discount + overtime. Value R54,000 for 12 months. Benefits:

Qualifications and Requirements
- South African, 18-28 years, unemployed, no previous YES programme
- Grade 10, Grade 11 or Grade 12 accepted - with English literacy
- Must be able to read, write English, basic maths for cashier work
- No criminal record, must be friendly and love customers
- Must live within 15km of Shoprite/Checkers store
- Must have SA ID, bank account, be available for 12 months full time
