Sibanye Stillwater Learnership 2026 - Rustenburg Mines is officially open. Sibanye Stillwater is inviting unemployed South African youth to apply for its Mining and Engineering Learner Programme at Rustenburg, Marikana and Kroondal operations in North West Province.
This learnership was posted today, 16 September 2026, and offers a long application window until November 2026. Successful learners will receive both theoretical training and practical mining exposure under qualified supervisors. This is one of the best mining learnerships for youth without experience who want to enter the mining industry.
Duration of Learnership
The programme runs for 12 months on a full-time basis. Location is Rustenburg and surrounding mines in North West. Learners will be based at mine sites and must be willing to work underground and on surface operations. Start date is February 2027.
Stipend and Benefits
Learners will receive a monthly stipend of R5,500 plus free accommodation inside mine village, free Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), free medical fitness assessment, and a registered NQF Level 2-4 qualification in Mining Operations or Engineering. High performers may get permanent employment after completion.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants must be South African citizens aged 18-35 years, unemployed, with Grade 12 / Matric. Mathematics and Physical Science are an advantage but not compulsory for some positions. Must be medically fit to work in mining environment and pass heat tolerance screening. Clear criminal record and must be from local Rustenburg community or willing to relocate. Good communication skills required.
