Chevening Scholarship 2026/27 for UK is now open and closes on 6 October 2026 at 11:00 AM UTC. This is the UK Government's fully funded scholarship for a one-year Masters degree in the UK. Over 1,500 scholarships are available globally for students from 160 eligible countries including South Africa, India, Kenya, Nigeria and Zimbabwe. This is a fresh opportunity posted today.
What Does Chevening Cover in 2026?
Chevening is fully funded. It covers:
- Full university tuition fees for one-year Masters
- Return flights to the UK (economy)
- Monthly living allowance (stipend)
- Accommodation and travel allowance
- UK visa application cost
- Arrival and departure allowances
Who Can Apply - Eligibility Criteria
- Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country (SA citizens can apply)
- Have completed an undergraduate degree that qualifies you for UK Masters by time of application
- Have at least 2,800 hours work experience (about 2 years full-time) - includes full-time, part-time, voluntary work and paid internships
- Apply to 3 different eligible UK university courses
- Return to your home country for at least 2 years after scholarship ends
- No upper age limit and no IELTS required by Chevening itself (but your UK university may require it)
