INSETA Bursary South Africa 2027 (Insurance Sector Education and Training Authority) applications are open and expire in November 2026. Closing date is 30 November 2026. This SETA bursary funds insurance and finance-related qualifications at public universities, universities of technology and TVET colleges. Maximum value R95,000 for university, R85,000 for UoT, R36,000 for TVET.
About INSETA Bursary - November Expiry SETA
INSETA is one of 21 SETAs in South Africa. Its mandate is to grow scarce skills in insurance sector. The Insurance Sector Student Fund (ISSF) offers bursaries for qualifications linked to Critical & Scarce Skills List. This is perfect if you study finance, actuarial, insurance, risk, data science.
Fields of Study Funded - November 2026
University and University of Technology (NQF 5-8):
- Actuarial Science
- BCom / BAdmin in Insurance, Risk Management, Finance, Investments, Economics
- Financial Planning (Loss Adjustor)
- Marketing
- Information Technology / Data Science / Data Analyst
- Law Degrees with Financial Planning, Insurance, or Pension Fund specialisation
- Postgraduate Honours in above areas
TVET Colleges (N4-N6):
- Business Management
- Financial Management
- Information Technology
- Sales and Marketing
What Does INSETA Cover?
- University students: tuition + textbooks + accommodation up to R95,000 max per year
- UoT students: up to R85,000 max
- TVET students: tuition + textbooks up to R36,000 max
Eligibility - November 30
- South African citizen
- Age under 35 years old at closing
- Unemployed - you must be unemployed to qualify (not working full-time)
- Registered to study qualification between NQF 5 and NQF 8 (for university/UoT) OR N4-N6 for TVET
- Registered at public university, UoT or TVET college in South Africa - private colleges not funded
- Financial need
- Not receiving other study funding
- 60% average in previous year recommended
Documents Required
- Certified ID copy
- Matric certificate / latest results (certified)
- Proof of registration at public institution (on letterhead)
- Most recent academic record on institution letterhead
- Course quotation on institution letterhead
- ISSF POPIA form (from INSETA website)
- If employed (but requirement is unemployed) letter of employment - better be unemployed
- Household income proof - bank statements, SASSA letter, affidavit, death certificate if applicable
How to Apply - Closing 30 November
- Go to inseta.org.za - Bursaries page - check ISSF window for 2027 (INSETA had not advertised 2027 window when checked Sept 2026, but November expiry pattern holds)
- Download correct application form: University / UoT form OR TVET form (different forms)
- Complete form, enter "www.zabursaries.co.za" how you heard
- Attach certified documents
- Email application to bursariesforyouth@inseta.org.za with subject line "INSETA Bursary Application" or "INSETA ISSF Bursary Application"
