Key Duties and Responsibilities
As Demand Planner Gauteng: Develop and maintain demand forecasts for 500+ SKUs using historical sales, market trends, promotions and seasonality. Use SAP APO, SAP IBP, or similar advanced planning system to generate statistical forecasts. Work with sales and marketing to incorporate promotions, new product launches and price changes into forecast. Conduct demand review meetings with sales managers to align forecast. Monitor forecast accuracy – MAPE, Bias, and drive improvements. Manage safety stock levels and reorder points to achieve 98% service level. Analyze slow-moving and obsolete stock and recommend actions. Prepare monthly S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) pack with forecast vs actual. Liaise with supply planners, procurement and factory to ensure supply meets demand. Handle FMCG specifics – perishability, promo uplifts, festive season spikes like December, Easter.
Minimum Requirements
Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Statistics, Industrial Engineering or BCom is required. 3-5 years experience as Demand Planner in FMCG, retail or manufacturing. Must have experience with SAP APO / SAP IBP or similar – e.g., Demantra, Anaplan, Futurmaster. Advanced Excel – VLOOKUP, pivot, power query is compulsory. Experience with forecasting methods – moving average, exponential smoothing, regression. Understanding of FMCG – you must know what SKU, promo, S&OP mean.
