Pharmaceutical Society of South Africa (PSSA) Bursaries 2027 applications are open and were last updated 1 day ago on 1 October 2026. The Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education (FPE) offers bursaries for undergraduate BPharm study from second year onwards. Closing date is 5 October 2026 — only 3 days left from yesterday's update!
About PSSA Bursary 2027
PSSA is the professional body for pharmacists in South Africa. Through FPE, they fund future pharmacists who show financial need and academic promise. This bursary is ONLY for students already studying pharmacy, not for first-year students.
What Does PSSA Bursary Cover?
- Tuition fees support (amount varies - not full cost)
- Will NOT cover existing loans or outstanding student debt
- One year funding, renewable based on performance
Eligibility - Posted Yesterday Requirements
- Must be South African citizen
- Must have completed Matric
- Must be studying full-time towards BPharm qualification
- Must be entering 2nd, 3rd or 4th year in 2027 - 1st year students are NOT eligible
- Must be studying at recognised tertiary institution in South Africa
- Must be a PSSA student member - membership is FREE for students, apply on pssa.org.za
- Must show financial need
- Minimum 60% average recommended

- Certified copy of South African ID
- Certified copy of full tertiary academic record / transcript
- Motivational letter from a pharmacy lecturer (lecturer must support your application)
- Financial declaration form (on application form) signed by you and your financial supporter
- Proof of household income: payslips if employed, balance sheet if self-employed, affidavit if unemployed, proof of pension
- Proof of PSSA student membership

- Become a PSSA student member (free) on pssa.org.za - membership application page
- Go to PSSA website: pssa.org.za - FPE Bursaries section
- Access the undergraduate bursary application form 2027 online
- Complete the online form - enter "www.zabursaries.co.za" in how you heard field
- Upload certified documents - must be certified copies, not originals
- Get your pharmacy lecturer to write motivational letter
- Submit before 5 October 2026
- Wait for email confirmation - only shortlisted candidates will be contacted

Important Notes
Postgraduate bursary (Masters/Doctoral) applications are CLOSED and will reopen May 2027. This 5 October deadline is ONLY for undergraduate 2nd-4th year BPharm students. The bursary will not cover your existing student debt.
